Driver for LED
LED Power supply are in fact kind of transformers that convert 230 volts current to the suitable voltage or current for LED, for example LED chips (these are often built into LED fixtures or LED strips).
There are different LED drivers, constant current (CC) or constant voltage (CV).
Constant current (CC) LED drivers are available in different amperes, common are 350ma and 700ma. These are often used for LED recessed spotlights or LED fixtures with a fixed LED chip.
Constant voltage (CV) LED drivers provide a constant voltage of, for example, 12 volts or 24 volts. These are often used with LED strips or MR16 12v LED light sources.
Dimming LED lighting
Dimming LED is as easy as dimming incandescent or halogen lamps. To dim an LED, a suitable LED driver must be used. Not all LED drivers are dimmable! The drivers indicate whether they are dimmable or not. If they are dimmable, you can often dim them with a tronic or a LED dimmer. Pay attention to the minimum load on the dimmer.
