LED drivers

R&M Lighting has a large range of LED drivers. They are available in various designs. Not all the drivers that we can deliver are on the webshop. If you are looking for a special LED transformer, you can always send us a message. We can then order the LED driver for you.

What is a LED driver?

A LED driver or also called LED transformer is a suitable power supply / control for LEDs. For g4 or mr16 it is 12 volt LED light sources or for LED chips (this is then built into a fixture). The LED driver therefore supplies the correct voltage or current for the LED to be used.

Keep in mind that the driver or LED transformer is suitable for the LEDs to be controlled. Each LED chip or LED strip has their own specifications.

Types of LED drivers

There are many different drivers or LED transformers, but these can be divided into two groups.

Constant voltage LED drivers (CV) and constant current LED drivers (CC)

Constant voltage: voltage is the number of volts being delivered, think of 12v CV or 24v CV. The voltage for this type of driver always remains the same, but the ampere (current) is determined by the number of LEDs to be used.

The CV driver is mostly used with LED strips and LED furniture lighting and is then connected in parallel.

Constant current: current is the ampere. Commonly used CC drivers are 350 mA and 700 mA, but this can also be 180 or 1200 mA. With this driver / led transformer the amparage remains the same, but the voltage / voltage is determined by the load to be used. These drivers are suitable for controlling LED chips. These are often built into an LED fixture.

Dimmable LED drivers

Not all LED drivers are dimmable! This is often indicated on the driver itself.

Some are primary dimmable, these can then be dimmed with an LED dimmer or tronic dimmer, but there are also LED drivers with a built-in dimmer. You often only need a pulse switch or a 1-10 volt dimmer.

Multifunctional LED driver

There are drivers that can be set to a desired voltage or current. This is very handy to use.
